I saw this ecard on Whine Less, Breathe More, and it made me think of my DIY WODs.
Loved this one I did from GPP over the weekend:

My game was a little off that day, but I challenged myself to finish under 30 minutes. 29:35 did the trick. I used a 35lb kettlebell rather than the prescribed 45lbs. I gave the heavier weight a chance, but I knew I would end up cracking myself in the chest if I used that one!!!

By the way, I’m gunning for the next taller box… I CAN DO IT!! I know I can. I just have to practice sometime when there’s not a lot of people around. Haha. And maybe when Kevin is there to hold my hand. He can do it! I’ve seen him do it although he does have 6 inches on me!
Here’s a workout that’s PERFECT for Olympic watching:

I chose steps, arc trainer, and treadmill because that’s what my gym has. I’d love to throw in a little rowing machine! I could go on the treadmill all day, but it’s fun to mix it up and probably good for you too.
Moving along, I have a new yoga goal! I’m excited. I think one of the reasons I have a tough time sticking with yoga is because I don’t have measurable goals. Have you noticed that I like timing things?? Lol. I know yoga is so good for me, and I feel wonderful when I do it. But I have a hard time giving up running/weights time for it.

Firefly pose! Doesn’t that look so fun? I can promise there will be pictures when I master it. I’m guessing it may be MONTHS since I can’t get my palms flat on the floor behind my feet. That’s just a sign that I need it, right? Also my new gym has some yoga classes. I’ll brave it one day!!
I did go to the gym as well this morning. I wasn’t planning to. I was sore. Good sense told me not to, but I’ve been trying to feel out my readiness for some upcoming fall races.
I got the worst side stitch I have ever had. That’s what I get for avoiding my rational thoughts not to go this morning. I ran 4 miles, but it was not enjoyable. And that’s when I realized, I’ve had my shoes since February. The first time I wore them was for a 10-mile race. I make a lot of good decisions about shoes, right? So I’ll be doing some internet shopping. I’ve been extra awful because in the past few months I’ve done tons of other workouts in those shoes too. Shame, shame. I know I need two good pairs of shoes — one for running and one more minimalist style for kettlebells, GPP workouts, etc. Any faves? I’m addicted to pink Nike, but I will briefly consider and discard other suggestions.
Here are two related posts about mixing together CrossFit-style workouts, running, etc.

I’m trying to find the right balance (+ yoga!!). I know I shouldn’t complain because I have more free time than anyone except for Boyd, but I can’t help wanting to do it all. Lol.
Do you own more than one pair of running/workout shoes? You’re smart.
